Conn Smythe opened the The Smythe Gravel Pit in the 1920’s & it was one of the first large scale developments in the area. After World War II, when the gravel pit was all used up, the pit and surrounding lands were subdivided and developed in to housing. Smythe prioritized housing to returning servicemen and their families losing money on each property sold.
